

Picnic Shelter Reservations
Shelters are available for rent year-round and can be booked up to one year in advance. Reservation times are 9 a.m.-2 p.m. and 3 p.m. – 8 p.m. (March 1 - Nov. 30) and 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. (Dec. 1 - Feb. 28). Online reservations not available Dec. 1 – Feb. 28; however, walk in and mail in reservations are accepted during this time.

James City County Recreation Center, 5301 Longhill Rd.
The entire James City Recreation Center is available for rent after normal operating hours. This includes the community rooms, gymnasium, and pool.
During normal operating hours, there are four community rooms available for rent. These spaces are ideal for meetings, birthday parties, and socials. Microphones, podiums, a television, and a DVD player are available at your request, and each room is equipped with a projector screen for presentations.

James River Community Center
8901 Pocahontas Trail (adjacent to James River Elementary School)
The gymnasium and four meeting rooms are available for rent after hours for small parties or large gatherings. Regular operating hours are Monday – Thursday, 4 -9 p.m., Friday, 4-8 p.m. and closed on Saturday and Sunday. Please call for availability and fee information.
Freedom Park Interpretive Center

The Freedom Park Interpretive Center features a meeting room with a wood-burning fireplace that doubles as an outdoor grilling area and an adjourning kitchen. Room capacity lecture style is 50; with chairs and tables the capacity is 36. WI-FI connectivity is available. The Interpretive Center is open Monday – Friday, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Set up may begin up to 30 minutes before the Center opens; break down after an event can be completed up to 30 minutes after closing, if needed. Staffing fees are determined by the Facility Administrator, dependant on size of event.
Rental Fees: Meeting Room: $50/hour for each of the first three hours; $25/hour for fourth and each subsequent hour
Staffing: $15/hour for events occurring after regular operating hours
To reserve any of the listed facilities, please review the Indoor Facility Use Policy submit a Facility Request Form in person, by postal mail or fax to the James City County Recreation Center. You can also submit the form via email to parks.rec@jamescitycountyva.gov. Please call 757-259-4200 for more information. Reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis and are processed within 3-5 business days.
Pools (Indoor and Outdoor)
Indoor: Private rental of the pool at the James City County Recreation Center is available only after normal operating hours. Pool rental includes staffing fees in addition to the basic rental fees. After hours events require building staff to monitor event activity and enforce building rules. Staffing levels and rates will vary depending on areas rented and participant counts. The Community Centers Administrator will determine staffing levels on a case by case basis. Please call 757-259-4200 for more information.
Outdoor: After hours pool rentals are available at Upper County Park and Chickahominy Riverfront Park. After hours events require park staff and lifeguards to monitor event activity and enforce park rules. Staffing levels and rates will vary depending on participant counts. Legacy Hall
Host your next meeting, banquet, reception or celebration at Legacy Hall in New Town! This facility is available for use by civic and community groups as well as the full public on a fee basis. Click here for more information.
